I met Betty when I stayed at St Agnes as an au-pair in one of B&Bs in 1989. Being friends with Emma, one of the girls for whom she was Auntie Betty, I was soon introduced to this kind and caring lady. We have exchanged letters
throughout the years, in which she shared information about her work, local events and her travels, which helped me feel so connected to wonderful Cornish people and history.
In recent years, we always made sure to visit Betty for a coffee and a chat about what to see in Cornwall, and on departure- telling her what places we did manage to visit.
She was a fountain of knowledge of local history as well.
This is our first stay in St Agnes without being able to see Betty, as we were told the sad news some time ago...But whenever we come to Cornwall, we remember either that Betty went with us on that short trip or provided information about the other places....
She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Betty was a third or fourth cousin and a good friend over the years. She was my guide in my great-grandfather's home town of St. Agnes and a fount of information whom I will miss.

A delightful woman and distant relative we were thrilled to meet on a visit to Cornwall some years ago. We exchanged Christmas letters for years after, and will miss her.
